Simulator aided data preparation for interlocking planning

March 2005 | Norbert Bolln, Péter Szilva

During the development of engineering editors and the engineering of interlockings for training purposes weaknesses in the interlocking planning were often determined leading partially to changes in the planning of the interlocking. Against this background Vossloh IT and Tran-Sys developed an “intelligent“ engineering tool in order to optimise the planning of interlockings. This new engineering tool, BEST, accelerates planning and relieves planners of routine tasks. Thus, infrastructure operators are actively involved in the planning phase at an early stage and interlocking operators can be trained before the real interlocking goes into service.
