Railway operations in the 21st century

It lies in the human’s nature to be adaptable. Consequently, man can promptly adapt his mobility behavior to new conditions. The railway, which was born at the beginning of the 19th century, was developed by the ongoing adaptation of a rail-bound transport system which took on the challenges of the ensuing periods and is still able to master challenging transportation tasks. Even nowadays, the commissioning of a new railway is still an event which suddenly alters people’s mobility behavior.
