Modern automation system for Zilina Teplicka marshalling yard – Spadovisko Vah
An extensive programme for upgrading the railway infrastructure is underway in the Slovak Republic. Its main purpose is to increase the performance of the Pan-European transport corridor sections. As one of the various projects, Slovak State Railways ŽSR started the revitalisation of its marshalling yard “Spádovisko Váh” in Žilina Teplicˇka in 2009 [1]. This marshalling yard is now equipped with a modern automation system based on the modular interlocking platform from Scheidt & Bachmann System Technik in Kiel (Germany). The system is used for automatic route setting during humping operations and serves as a SIL 2 interlocking system for safe shunting movements in the whole yard.
