Future architecture of railway interlocking systems
Many articles have already been published on the future of interlocking technology in this magazine. In this article, we have endeavoured to show the possibilities for the development of interlocking technology (indoor and outdoor installations) as well as its impact on maintenance and repair (Life Cycle Costs/LCC) within the framework of strict standardisation. This article can neither predict nor anticipate the future developments, but it describes possible development directions. The topic of interlocking system architecture is very complex; we would therefore like to ask the reader to understand that we cannot describe all the parts of a signal box here in detail as we have only a limited possibility to contribute on this issue....
