ETCS – The successful commissioning of the Red Line in Thailand
The technical advantages of the European Train Control System (ETCS) as well as its simple implementation as an overlay system have led to the successful establishment of ETCS outside Europe. Amongst other things, Thailand is currently relying on this European technology to modernise its rail network. The so-called “Red Line” – the first high-capacity urban rapid transit system – has now been commissioned there. Thales was responsible for the trackside equipment with ETCS Level 1 (L1).
