European Train Control Systems for the BR 185
On the locomotive BR 185 003-1 the functionality of PZB90 and LZB80 has been implemented first, based on a system providing the basic services distance/speed detection, brake control, driver indication and operation and registration. The concept of the Bombardier Transportation EBICAB 2000 vehicle equipment based on these basic services offers the flexibility with regard to short-term enlargement and extension with other national train control systems even before the relevant UNISIG compatible STM are available. The kernel of the basissystem already includes the functionalities of ETCS Level 1 - 3, thus forming the basis for operation on ETCS tracks as well.
