The cybersecurity engineering process for rail vehicles

April 2021 | Lars Schnieder, Ulrich Velte

Rail vehicles operate on Europe’s railroads 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Rail transport companies provide essential services by transporting passengers and goods. In doing so, they operate on critical infrastructures whose smooth operations are fundamental to the functioning of our society and economy. As complex systems with multi-stage supply chains, rail vehicles in particular require a systematic cybersecurity engineering process structured using phases and quality gates.
