Thales: Hitachi Rail acquires Ground Transportation Systems
What was initially a rumour was confirmed on 4 August 2021: Hitachi Rail announced the acquisition of Thales’ Ground Transportation Systems (GTS) business. Completion of the acquisition for an enterprise value of EUR 1.66 billion (JPY 215 billion) is expected by the end of the 2022 financial year. With the acquisition of GTS, Hitachi Rail aims to achieve revenues of approximately EUR7.7bn (JPY1 trn) by 2026.
