ATO-Cargo: operating procedures for the fallback levels in highly automated railway operations
The ATO-Cargo (Automatic Train Operation Technologies for Cargo) project is testing out fully automated freight train operations, in which it is especially envisaged that a Remote Supervision and Control Centre (RSC) will assume the tasks at the fallback level. This includes, for example, the Remote Train Operation (RTO) mode. In this project, the German Aerospace Center (DLR) is designing the operating procedures for the use cases, in which the RSC is involved, amongst other things. Human factor analyses will subsequently be carried out on the RSC operator’s work processes and any possible changes in the human performance requirements for the RSC operator’s new role will be identified...
