Onvia balise ETCS L: an innovative product opening new horizons in worker protection
In 2016, Alstom published an article entitled “Innovative integration for the deployment of ETCS L1LS” in SIGNAL+DRAHT [1] that introduced a new concept for combining Eurobalise and LEU (Lineside Electronic Unit) features into a single product. Following this first step, the present article sets out how this concept is now going to be used in combination with a radio communication system by Zöllner for an unexpected goal: the protection of railway workers.
