ETCS in large stations using the example of Stuttgart Central Station
The Command and Control System (CCS) in the Stuttgart Region is being “digitalised” with the Stuttgart Digital Node (DKS). Around 125 track kilometres are to be equipped with ETCS Level 2 (L2) and further technologies by 2025 as the first step in the Digitale Schiene Deutschland (DSD, Digital Rail for Germany) pilot scheme (fig. 1). The installation of ETCS L2 at the new Stuttgart Central Station lies at the heart of the project.
