Dear readers, ETCS continues to be the focus of discussion. Following the announcement of German government support for ETCS vehicle equipment beyond the Stuttgart digital node, the German Transport Forum (DVF) is calling for an increase in the financial resources earmarked for this in the budget and for a funding guideline. Currently, 520 km of the 33,297 km DB network are equipped with ETCS (as of 28 February, 2023). This corresponds to 1.56% of the network. According to the work plan of the European Coordinator for ERTMS, Germany is to equip around 1,560 km of track with ETCS by the end of 2023, the majority of which is currently under construction or on order....
