Cable diagnostics in signalling technology: their structure, function and prospects
According to DB InfraGO’s Infrastructure Condition Report [1], German rail infrastructure is facing challenges due to the deteriorating condition of certain asset types that are considered critical to punctuality, namely the control and signalling technology assets. The 2024 condition rating is currently 4.12 (expressed using German school grades) for interlockings alone. The cables in older interlockings in particular may potentially compromise the quality of service. Diagnostic support from sensors for interlocking technology is therefore intended to help identify and resolve any emerging faults before they occur....
