Efficient diagnostics for supporting the availability of turnouts and tracks

November 2004 | Peter Fritz

In a joint development with VAEE and the Austrian Federal Railway, the turnout monitoring system VAE ROADMASTER 2000 was tailored for maximum availability and newly conceived under the name VAE ROADMASTER 2010. The combination of a diagnostic system with inductive end position detection, as well as the monitoring of the signals along the track, helps to extend the maintenance intervals for all the on-site systems. The integration into the data network of the Austrian Federal Railway, the utilization of existing computers while adapting them to internal failure management and the multiple use of sensors enable additional cost savings.
