Challenges of project implementation using the example of two ETCS projects
This article presents the current status and the challenges involved in implementing two current ETCS projects (European Train Control System, ETCS) at DB Netz AG. Both projects are currently in the execution phase. Fig. 1 shows the geographical placement of both the projects. The installation of ETCS equipment in the “Verkehrsprojekt Deutsche Einheit Nr. 8.3 (VDE 8.3) Berlin–Leipzig/Halle” represents the northern extension of the already completed VDE 8.2 NBS Leipzig/Halle–Erfurt project.
