Autonomous driving – control as the basis for the virtual driver model?
The precise braking of a rail vehicle is of great functional and safety-relevant importance in rail transport when approaching a coupling-ready position or stopping in front of signs, signals or obstacles. Current considerations of the automation of rail vehicle driving functions often focus on environmental monitoring. Less attention is paid to the virtual driver model, which takes over the command of the driving functions in the place of the human driver.
