S-Bahn Hamburg to be automated
In Hamburg, highly automated S-Bahn operation is scheduled to start for the first time in Germany in 2021. The first mayor of the Free and Hanseatic City of Hamburg, Peter Tschentscher, member of the Management Board Roland Busch and Ronald Pofalla, member of the DB Infrastructure Board, signed a corresponding cooperation agreement on the „Digital S-Bahn Hamburg“ in mid-July. Hamburg is thus a pioneer for digitized operation in a German railway network. The agreement provides for the 23 km long section of line 21 between the stations Berliner Tor and Bergedorf/Aumühle to be equipped for highly automated driving and for four vehicles to be equipped with the necessary technology in parallel....
