MÁV: First ETCS L2 line in operation
After GySEV put its first line with ETCS Level 2 (L2) into operation in 2023, the state-owned MÀV has now followed suit. Since 1 March 2025, the 25 km long Százhalombatta–Pusztaszabolcs section of the 228 km long Budapest–Pécs main line has been in operation with ETCS L2. The Budapest Kelenföld–Százhalombatta section will follow later, bringing the total length of ETCS L2 in operation to 46 kilometres. The system is being supplied by Siemens Mobility at a cost of HUF 16.6 billion (EUR 41.5 million)....
