National planning rules for ETCS Level 1 Full Supervision in Germany
More than 30 years after the launch of the E uropean Train Control System ( ETCS), the debate around the introduction of this signalling system in Germany has gained momentum and significance. The upcoming VDV Recommendation 364 “Guideline on Signalling System Planning for Non-Federal Railways” means that planning rules for the ETCS in the Level 1 Full Supervision (L1 FS) configuration will be available in Germany as an accepted technical standard from 2025 onwards. Among other components, it provides infrastructure managers (IM) with the first-ever national rules for implementing ETCS L1 FS in Germany....
